Beginner I Sewing

Course Description
The Beginner I Sewing class is designed for the student with little or no knowledge of basic sewing techniques. Students will become familiar with:
 Ø the use and care of sewing machines
 Ø basic sewing tools for the beginner
 Ø how to select the correct fabric
Ø recommended patterns for easy projects
Ø how to determine what size pattern to buy

During the first class students will receive guidance concerning how to choose a project and pattern to be worked on in class. Each student will learn to use the information on the pattern envelope to order fabric and purchase supplies. Following the pattern instructions will lead beginners through the process of cutting out and completing their projects.

Tuition & Payment
The class consists of three sessions with each session being three hours in length. The tuition is $108.00 and may be paid in three installments of $36.00 in advance of each session. Advanced registration and payment are required to reserve a seat in the class. Registration and payment should be made at Shappley Sew and Vac with checks made payable to Linda Johnson. Class size is restricted to six students and the minimum is two students. The deadline for registration is two days before the class convening date. students will be personally contacted if there are any changes to the schedule or if there are not enough people signed up for the class.

Beginner II Sewing

Course Description
The Beginner II Sewing class is designed for the student who has completed Beginner I Sewing or is familiar with basic sewing skills. The objectives of the class are to teach:
 Ø How to install a zipper
 Ø How to insert sleeves
 Ø The ins and outs of buttonholes

Students are encouraged to bring a project to class that they need help with. This may be an incomplete garment from Beginner I Sewing or a new project.
